Exercise 4: Data needs exercise for an ordering system

Sometimes you have to make an existing data model more complete (add new columns, tables and relationships) or create a logical data model based on the conceptual data model (CDM). This is the case in this excercise.

Read the following assignment below. Then

  • do the so-called data needs analysis
  • and create a logical data model (crow's feet)

Document your solution properly (e.g. explaining your decisions). Write the learnings to your learning report.

Assignment:

Let us take an ordering system as an example. There is a conceptual data model (CDM) already.

You have now obtained a report showing an example of an order: a customer X has ordered several products (items). Based on this report and the conceptual model, your task is to create a logical data model (LDM) for the imaginary company called Demox.
